Mrs. Sarah Evelyn Prater Curry, 83, formerly of Atlanta, GA, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at South Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owens Crossroad, AL. Mrs. Curry was born in Calhoun, GA, February 27, 1929, to the late Dena Mae Prater Norton and Baxter Prater. She was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Curry had worked as a hairdresser for numerous years and later retired from Rich’s - Macy’s Department Stores where she had worked for more than twenty years as an operator. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Curry, Sr., daughters, Marchia Lanelle Curry and Cynthia Denise Curry Gentry, and brother, Gene Prater. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Curry Montgomery (Bob) of Gurley, AL; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Rufus "Randy" Curry, Jr. (Tina), of Atlanta, GA; and George Curry (Lisa), of Duluth, GA; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Norton (Margie), of Cartersville, GA; five grandchildren, Roderick Montgomery (Megan), of Madison, AL; Amanda Montgomery of Gurley, AL; Jessica Christerson (Jon), of Cumming, GA; Charissa Curry, of Duluth, GA; Victoria Curry, of Duluth, GA; and three great-grandsons, Alex and Declan Montgomery, of Madison, AL; and Jeremiah Curry, of Duluth, GA. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2012,at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
