Mrs. Alene "Penny" B. Powell, age 90, of Adairsville, passed away peacefully Friday March 15, 2024, at her residence.

Alene was born in the Athens, Tennessee, March 6, 1934, daughter of the late John T. Parris and Viola Lee Jackson Parris. She was also preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Otto Pasley; late husbands, Gene Black, Walter "BR" Bogle, and Ruben Powell; brother Charles Parris; sisters, Dorothy Anthony, Betty Long, and Lois Dawson. Mrs. Powell was a member of Oothcalooga Baptist Church and the Kennesaw Order of the Eastern Star. She owned and operated A and G Fabrics for over 50 years. A talented seamstress, she could make anything from clothes to curtains. She enjoyed traveling and playing slot machines. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, Alene was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Lynne Gilbert(Danny), Jan Pasley (Bo Harris), and Darrell Pasley (Darlene); stepchildren, Shelia Black and Keith Black; grandchildren, Tasha Gwin Norris(Michael), Zach Gwin (Jennifer), Andrea Burris (Mark), Lindsey Dangler (Rodney), Cameron Pasley (Laura), Angie Benton(Mike), and Jerome Pasley; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Regina Stephens; sister-in-law, Mary Parris; special nieces and nephews, Glenn Long (Robin), Kathy Rice (David), C. L. Long, Dewayne Long, Fran Parris, and Charlene Busby.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2024, at 4:00PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Reverends Les Connell and Michael Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Oothcalooga Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00PM until 4:00PM at the funeral home.
