Mrs. Alice Dixie Hight Hazelwood, age 91, of Main Street, Adairsville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 25, 2016.
She was born in Adairsville, Georgia, June 30, 1924, daughter of the late John Hight and Minnie Hufstetler Hight. Mrs. Hazelwood was a lifelong and eldest member of Dry Creek Baptist Church where she enjoyed the Ladies Circle. A 5th generation grandmother, she always loved family being around and spending time together. With her keen sense of humor, Mrs. Hazelwood never met a stranger. Although she could never drive she has traveled many miles with her dearest riding buddies, Evelyn Towe, Shirley Cobb, Marilyn Copeland, and Charlotte Towe. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Mary Adams Hight; husband, Rev. Theodore Hastus Hazelwood; siblings, Herman Hight, Hiram Hight, Gladys Jarrett, Edna Brumblow, Blose Everett, and Florence Baggett.
Survivors include her loving children, Ted and Janet Hazelwood of Adairsville, Bobby and Sherry Hazelwood of Adairsville, Randy Hazelwood and Stella Siniard of Adairsville, Steve and Rhonda Hazelwood of Rome, and Penny and Dowis Satterfield of Adairsville; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ona Hight of Shannon;a cherished friend and neighbor, Wynell Davis; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28 2016 at 2:00 PM at Dry Creek Baptist Church with Reverends' Sammy Adams, Larry Towe, and Stacey Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include her grandsons, Jonathan Hazelwood, Ramey Hazelwood, Jeremy Hazelwood, Cole Hazelwood, D.J. Sattterfield, Cam Blankenship, Lane Mitchell, and Easton Ryder Hazelwood . Honorary pallbearers include Dowis Satterfield, Tab Hazelwood, Andy Blankenship, Shay Mitchell, Dixon Holtzclaw, Otis Jarrett, Hershal Rose, Gene Blankenship, George Jones, Steve McDougle, Eddie Owens, Luke Jones, Carl Towe, and Jimmy Fletcher.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
