Mrs. Alice Odell Murphy Cantrell, age 92, of Adairsville, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Cartersville Heights.
Mrs. Cantrell was born in Kingston, Georgia, October 8, 1922, daughter of the late Dewey and Lollie Hammonds Murphy. She was a member of Connesena Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress. Mrs. Cantrell enjoyed traveling the United States with her late husband in their motorhome and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, E.J. Cantrell, Sr.; brothers, Delbert Murphy, Delano Murphy, Harvey Murphy, and Dewey Murphy; and sisters, Louise Partee and Elizabeth Jarrett.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ernest J. Cantrell, Jr. and wife, Patricia of Adairsville; grandson, Ernest "JayJay" Cantrell, III and wife Sandy of Adairsville, Melanie Cantrell Smith Of Adairsville and Dana Cantrell King and husband Jimmy of Adairsville; great grandchildren, Melissa Grimes, April Cantrell and Jayson Cantrell, Osha Reed and Tiffany Johnson, and Jake L. Massingill; great great grandchild, Matthew Grimes; brother, Gene Murphy of Adairsville; and sister, Linda Lanham of Cedartown; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2015, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Barton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Mrs. Cantrell's nephews will serve as pallbearers: Ty and Todd McClure, Lee and Paul Cuprowski, Ray Payne and Jacob Banks.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
