Obituary

Mr. Allen Dolphas Carroll, fondly known as Dolphas, "PeeWee," or “Uncle Doc,” passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 7, 2026, in Adairsville, GA.

A gracious and gentle man, Mr. Carroll was born in Macon, GA, April 14, 1934, son of the late J. B. Carroll and Addie Belle Thompson Carroll. While he answered to many names, the titles he held with the most pride were Daddy, PawPaw, and PawPaw Carroll. Dolphas was a generous soul who "took care of everybody"; this was most evident in his devoted care for his wife, Virginia, during her battle with Alzheimer’s. Mr. Carroll honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to the railroad, retiring from Norfolk Southern Railroad on January 1, 1991. Dolphas’ Faith was central to his life. He was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church in Byron, GA, and enjoyed worshipping with the members of Adairsville Christian Church, which he had attended during his time in Adairsville. Beyond his work, Dolphas found joy in gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed expressing his creativty through woodworking and jewelry making. For the past year, he enjoyed the warmth and companionship of living with his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Austin Stephens at their home in Adairsville, GA. Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Goings Carroll, his parents, J. B. Carroll and Addie Belle Thompson, and siblings, Sydney Carroll, Hollis Carroll, Alfred Jewel Carroll, Ovie Carroll, Morris Carroll, Clinton Carroll, Mattie Larson, Virginia Brinkley, and Christine Ethridge.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Stephens (Austin) and LeAnn Humphries (Tony); four grandchildren, Brandon Stephens, Addie Munro, Phillip Bailey, and Allen Michael Bailey; six great-gandchildren, Ana Eubank, Olivia Stephens, Rosalie Munro, Drew Stephens, Kayce Stephens, and Scottie Stephens; special friends and neighbors, Martha Keene, Robin and Dixie Money, and Randy and Arlene Neff.

A date and time for the memorial service and interment, to be held in Macon, GA, will be announced when they have been arranged.
