Obituary

Mr. Amos Nathan Baker, age 70, of Cedar Creek Road, Cartersville, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 23, 2016.

He was born in Cartersville, Georgia, July 23, 1945, son of the Amos W. Baker and Ruth Shook Baker. Mr. Baker was a faithful member and former choir director at Union Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun. He was not one to just sit, he either needed to be working on something or working in his garden. He was an amazing husband, father, and Poppa who will be truly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-five years Joyce Baker of Cartersville; children, Michael Nathan and Michelle Baker of Cartersville, Tammy Baker Edwards of Cartersville and Justin and Heather Baker of Adairsville; grandchildren, Nick Baker, Maddie Baker, Kellan Edwards, Dylan Baker, Mackenzie Baker, Carleigh Baker, and a granddaughter soon to arrive; brothers, Billy and Sybil Baker, Rev. David and Sue Baker, and Tommy and Linda Baker; sisters, Janie and Joel Mauldin, Jeanelle Abernathy, Alice and Frank Ray, Joyce Overby, and Robin and Billy Guthrie; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM from Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Reverends Randy Jackson, Ronnie Cowart, and David Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include his nephews, Billy Baker, Jr, Steven Baker, Chuck Widby, Shane Abernathy, Randall Forsyth, Greg Mauldin, Joe Ray, T.J. Ray, Jeremy Ferguson, Josh Ferguson, and Thomas Baker.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
