IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann Chamlee
Mcguire
October 26, 1946 – September 13, 2024
Ann Chamlee McGuire (Vivian Ann Chamlee) died on September 13th, 2024, finding peace after more than a decade of health challenges. Ann was the oldest of two children born to King and Elizabeth (Penn) Chamlee on October 26th, 1946, in Adairsville, Georgia.
Ann graduated high school from Darlington School in Rome, GA (then Thornwood), where her strong value of education began. She attended college at the University of Tennessee where she met Mike McGuire. Mike became her husband of nearly 54 years until he predeceased her by only seven weeks.
Ann obtained a Master of Science in Speech Pathology from the University of Tennessee and used it to help children and adults better learn, work, and communicate with those they love. She worked at the Harbin Clinic in Rome, GA, Bartow County Public Schools (Georgia), and several nursing homes. Her son (Chip) attributes her teaching to helping him develop his strong singing vocals.
Ann loved to create, often in partnership with her late husband Mike. Her children remember beautiful painted porcelain throughout their childhoods, and each has pottery created by Ann and Mike in their homes still today. Her grandchildren remember sewing and monogramming with her, and that she took a personal interest in the things that mattered to them. She also loved creating memories with her family, seeing family vacations as the highlight of every year.
Ann's faith was a comfort through many challenges and part of the encouragement she shared with others. She was active in her church, singing in the choir and teaching children's Sunday School when her daughters were young. Ann was a member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church, Birmingham, AL, when she died. She joined in 2015 and was reunited with her childhood best friend Claudette Bearden. This relationship brought her great joy in the last decade of her life.
Ann is survived by her adult children, Chamlee McGuire, Christie Mac Segars (Croft Segars), and Chip McGuire, as well as six grandchildren – Abigail "Abbie" Loscuito, Ila Segars, Elizabeth Segars, Harris Segars, Alice McGuire, and Carrie Jo McGuire.
A memorial service is planned for 10:00 a.m. (Central), Friday, September 20th, at the chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, AL. The family will receive guests immediately preceding the service at 9:30 a.m. (Central). A brief graveside service will be held on Friday, September 20th at 4 p.m. (Eastern) in Adairsville, GA.
Memorial Donations may be sent to Mountain Brook Baptist Church at www.mbbc.org or to Lifeline Children's Services at www.lifelinechild.org
May Ann find rest and contentment in the presence of her Creator.
