Obituary
Mr. Arnold "Junior" McElroy, Jr., age 73, of Fire Tower Road, Cartersville, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Mr. McElroy was born in Cartersville, July 28, 1943, son of the late Arnold William McElroy, Sr. and Opal Quick McElroy. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church in Waleska and a veteran of the United States Army. He loved to go medal detecting and fishing but most enjoyed being with his grandson A. J. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Christina King and Denise McElroy; sister, Louise Bagley.
Survivors include his wife of forty-three years, Eloise McElroy of Cartersville; son Arnold McElroy, III of Cartersville; 3 grandchildren, Shawn McElroy, Brandy McElroy, and A.J. King; 1 great-grandson; brothers, David McElroy of Canton and James McElroy of Canton; sisters, Melinda Croft of Canton and Glenda Sweat of Canton; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Cloer and Rev. Milton Hight officiating. Interment will follow in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville with military honors. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Eddie Bagley, Doug Bagley, Todd Adams, Robert Bagley, Jeff Perry, and Jackie Perry.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening at 5:00 PM for family members and they will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Barton Funeral Home.
