Mrs. Barbara Shellnutt Hand, 77, of Fairmount passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Hand was born to the late Homer H. Shellnutt, Sr. and Elizabeth Lewis Shellnutt on May 14, 1944, in Columbus, Georgia. Barbara was of the Baptist faith. A loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Barbara was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, especially during the holidays. She loved doing crafts and enjoyed creating beautiful cards. Barbara was an avid scrapbooker, leaving her family several masterpieces to cherish forever. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Elizabeth Shellnutt and brother, George Shellnutt.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Dennis Hand, Jr.; son, Dennis "Dee" Hand, III and his wife Susan; daughter, Helen Adcock and her husband Barry; grandchildren, Matthew Hand, Jason Hand, and Nathan Adcock; brothers, Homer H. Shellnutt, Jr. and his wife Tiffany and Richard Shellnutt and his wife Susan; sisters, Carolyn Norton and Gayle Stephenson; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Adairsville with Rev. Barry Adcock and Rev. Gregg Free officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service.
