Mrs. Barbara H. Purvis, age 75, of 424 Railoverlook, Adairsville, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 19, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center, Rome.

She was born in Fulton County, GA, August 27, 1935, daughter of the late A. C. and Geneal Hollingsworth. Mrs. Purvis attended Northside High School, Atlanta, was a member of Adairsville Baptist Church, the Sans Souci Club of Adairsville, the Red Hat Society, and a member of GA Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi of Cartersville. She was a Braves fan as well as a Falcon's fan and had worked at Shaw Industries. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Hollingsworth.

Survivors include her husband, James Gilbert Purvis, Jr. to whom she was married December 26, 1953; 2 daughters, Angela Combs and her husband, Greg, of Adairsville and Karen M. Purvis of Knoxville, TN and longtime family friend, Dawn M. Adkins of Knoxville, TN; brother, Larry B. (Gail) Hollingsworth of Marietta; brothers-in-law, Paul (Gail) Purvis of Deltona, FL, and Frank (Linda Lee) Purvis of Americus; grandchildren, Scott M. (Kayla) Walker, Rebekah Combs and Sarah Combs, all of Adairsville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM from Adairsville Baptist Church, Adairsville, with Rev. Richard Webster and Rev. Michael Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Park, Atlanta. Deacons of the Adairsville Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be GA Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Cartersville, GA.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Barton Funeral Home.
