Mr. Barry Gordon Edwards, age 62, of Fieldwood Drive, Adairsville passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Cartersville Medical Center.
He was born in Bartow County, March 21, 1952, son of Verner Edwards and the late Helen Lavasque Edwards. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves and was a builder contractor for many years. Barry was an avid golfer, collector of model trains, and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandson Thomas. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Edwards; sister, Janis "Jan" Edwards Rucker and brother-in-law, Allen West.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-six years Gayle West Edwards of Adairsville; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Charles Graves of Rome and Lauren and Brett Stephens of Calhoun; grandson, Thomas Graves; father, Verner Edwards of Adairsville; sister, Jackie Edwards Hollis of Cartersville; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Donna Edwards of Adairsville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, C.A. and Tommie West; brother-in-law, Jeff West; sister-in-law, Debra Watson; nieces and nephews, DeDe and Matthew Long, Chris Wheeler, Amy and Jamie Pass, Ashley and Brandy Black, Meagan and Matt Wrigley, Justin West, and Brittney West; several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Stephen Cochran and Rev. Larry Hibberts officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Edwards, Terry Huckaby, Chris Wheeler, Tom Rucker, Jeff West, and Ashley Black. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Painter, Corey Sutton, Brett Stephens, Charles Graves, Michael Wheeler, Bill Wheeler, Rayden Parker, Matthew Long, Mark Stewart, and Mike Presley.
The family will receive friends at Barton Funeral Home, Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
