Barry Dean Smith, age 58, of Rydal, Georgia, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 13, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Barry was born in Calhoun, Georgia on August 3, 1967, son of Hugh Lee Smith and the late Betty Ray Smith.

Survivors include his father, Hugh Lee Smith; children, Kayla Alvarado (Michael), Keri Smith, and Kyler Smith (Macy);grandchildren, Aubrey Alvarado, Elijah Alvarado, Rylie Alvarado, and Georgia Kate Smith; brother, Bobby Smith (Gail); nieces, Amber Heath (Chris) and Ashly Smith; companion, Stacey Hale and her daughter, London Hendrix (Spencer).

Barry was a devoted family man whose greatest joy was being a father and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman who spent many years participating in local fishing clubs, enjoying both the sport and the friendships he made along the way. Barry also looked forward to planting his garden each year and found great happiness simply being outdoors, where he felt most at home. Barry was a member of Pleasant Olive Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and the love he shared with those blessed to know him.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Reverends Eric Elrod, Bobby Smith, and Randell Childers officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Dobbs, Mason Dobbs, Tim Martin, Mark King, Chris Heath, and Donny Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be Noah Williams, Hayden Heath, and Noah Simpson.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Barton Funeral Home.
