Mrs. Becky Marie Monday Wood, age 94, departed from this life on February 15th, 2019, after a brief illness. She was born on January 23, 1925, in Tennessee to her loving parents, Lee Monday and Josephine Reynolds Monday. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun, Georgia.

In addition to being a wife and a mother to her sons and neighborhood children, Mrs. Wood enjoyed gardening as well as fast cars in her youth, a beloved pastime she shared with her eldest son, Jimmy. Mrs. Wood was a resourceful, independent, and generous person whose colorful personality and tenacity will be forever embedded in the hearts and minds of her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood was predeceased by her kind husband, Marrowl Wood, her loving, younger son, Edward Wood; seven brothers: Ernest, Claiborne, Jim, Johnny, Dewey, Shelby, and Gilbert Monday and two sisters: Lucy and Mary Treadway.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her dedicated and caring son, Jimmy Wood, and his wife, Dr. Phyllis Wood, of Adairsville; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Wood, of Kentucky; her grandchildren: Jeff and Jarrod Wood of Adairsville; Suzanne Shuibat and Kris (Jessica) Wood of Kentucky, as well as five great-grandchildren: Ayyoob and Abdu Shuibat; Patrick, Lily, and Nicholas Wood.

Pallbearers will include Jeff Wood, Jarrod Wood, Randy Hall, Eric Hall, Spencer Bradley, and Ronnie Sutton.

Mrs. Wood's family will receive friends Wednesday, February 20 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 21, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. David Baker. Following the memorial service, Mrs. Wood will be laid to rest at Eastview Cemetery in Adairsville.
