Mrs. Bessie Davis King, age 79, of Adairsville passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
She was born April 12, 1942, in Callahan, Florida, to the late Olen B Davis, Sr and Myrtie M. Palmer Davis. She was a member of Adairsville Baptist Church. Bessie was a mother, housewife, and businesswoman. She served on numerous civic organization including being the President of the P. T. A. when the Great Locomotive Chase Festival was formed and the Red Hats Society. She proudly became President of her fathers business, Osceola Inns, INC from 1976 to 2005, owned and operated Adairsville Florist for several years, and managed Trimble Hollow, LLLP for 10 years. Bessie was a true lady and always a delight to be around. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James P. King Sr; brothers, Mack Ray Davis, Sr, Lawrence E. Davis, and Olen B. Davis, Jr; and sisters, Geneva Davis Huling, Mary Davis Snowden; her aunt who was like her second mother, Mae Palmer Anderson.
Survivors include her children, James P. King, Jr and wife Dana, Donna King Evans and husband Andrew, Bryan Davis King, and Barry Emerson King; sister, Patricia Davis Lively and husband Charles; god sister, Wanda Bunch Gardner and husband Dan; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 god grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins.
A Celebration of Bessie's Life will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 4:00 PM at the Adairsville Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Lively and Rev. Eric Sorrell officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 Pm at Adairsville Baptist Church.
