Obituary

Mrs. Betty Adams Pelfrey, age 79 of Princeton Avenue, Adairsville, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Pelfrey was born in Rome, GA, April 3, 1934, daughter of the late Clifford H. and Gertrude Hammonds Adams. She was a loving and faithful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, role model, and friend. Her unwavering faith in Christ was shown in her selfless acts of kindness to all those she knew. Her devotion to her marriage served as an example of true love and commitment which many who knew her strive to follow. Her loss will be felt by many and she will forever be remembered as a loyal servant of the Lord. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Adairsville where she taught the baby nursery for over twenty years. Mrs. Pelfrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lelton Horace Pelfrey; a brother, Wilson Adams; and a grandson, Matthew Scott Pelfrey.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Randy Baggett of Adairsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kim Pelfrey of Calhoun; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Ann and Edward Selman of Rome and Dorothy Godwin of Rome; a brother-in-law, Jerry and Bessie Pelfrey of Adairsville; 3 sisters-in-law Brenda and Richard Cowart of Adairsville, Millie Pelfrey of Foley, AL, and Oneida Adams of Rome; 3 grandchildren, Kelly and J.T. Jarrard of Fort Myers, FL, Haley and David Zemaitis of Lehigh Acres, FL and Lacey and Jeremy Huskins of Cartersville; 3 great grandchildren, Clay Jarrard, Willow Jarrard, and Madison Huskins; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 1:00 PM at the First Christian Church, Adairsville with Min. Danny Pelfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville, with Wayne Abernathy, Richard Cowart, J.C. Jarrett, John McPherson, Austin Stephens, Rodger Bailey, and John D. Hooker as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Sonny Scott, William Jackson, her nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at Barton Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund, post office box 680, Adairsville, GA, 30103 or to the American Cancer Fund.
