Mr. Billy Joe Dover, age 57, of 724 Highway 293, Emerson, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at his residence.

He was born in Bartow County, GA, July 24, 1954, son of the late George and Bertha Bennett Dover. Mr. Dover was of the Baptist Faith and had worked at Shaw Industries for nearly thirty years. Some of his favorite interests involved cars; he loved racing, enjoyed fixing up and working on cars, and was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, George Lee, Frank and Charles, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Vickie Lynn Wood Dover of Emerson; 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, Rodney Dover of Emerson, Shane (Brandy) Dover of Cartersville, and Tony Bryan Dover of Cartersville; 2 stepsons and daughters-in-law, Toby (Bonnie) Dover of Cartersville, and Jamie (Holli) Dover of Cartersville; 9 grandchildren; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Dot (Carmen) Tidwell of Acworth, and Mary Ann (Danny) Kiser of Cartersville; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Lois) Dover of Calhoun, Jimmy (Connie) Dover of Calhoun, Johnny Dover of Emerson, and Charles Dover of Acworth; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 12:30 PM from Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Kingston, with Rev. C. E. Wilkey and Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Randy Tidwell, Allen Dover, Duck Dover, Joe Dover, Dan Kiser, and Brett Tidwell.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
