Mr. Billy Ray Pelfrey, 80, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018, at his residence. He was an evangelist with the Holiness Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Rose Pelfrey; his first wife, Anna Ruth Pelfrey; his parents, Oscar and Viola Pelfrey; his sisters, Alice Rodriguez and Azzalee Clark and his granddaughter, Michelle Pelfrey.

Billy Ray is survived by his children, Kathleen Marcum (Jeffrey) of Stuart, VA, Joe Pelfrey of Adairsville, GA, Larry Pelfrey (Linda) of Adairsville, GA; Diane Frazier (Steve) of Parrottsville, TN, Matt Taylor (April) of Rose Hill, VA and Thomas Lester Brown (Jennifer); and his sisters, Minia Sturgill of Big Stone Gap, VA and Rita Baker (Junior) of Big Stone Gap, VA; his nephew, Jimmy Ramsey; his cousin who is like a sister, Alene Mulhurn; his cousin, Eddie Clifton; Linda Hill; his nieces, Linda Hill and Gloris Lyles; and his grandson, Alex Taylor.  He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, from 6:00-8:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap, VA.  Funeral services will begin at 8:00pm in the chapel with Pastor Willie Barker and Pastor Bruce Helton officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 2:00pm in Eastview Cemetery, Poplar Springs Road, Adairsville, GA.  Billy Ray's sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
