Mr. Billy Joe Peter Shortnacy, age 79, of Wilson Street, Adairsville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 13, 2015.

He was born in Turkey Town, AL, April 5, 1936, son of the late Thomas Franklin Shortnacy and Lillian Hunt Shortnacy. Mr. Shortnacy was a veteran of the United States Air Force and of the Holiness faith. Mr. Shortnacy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lares Shortnacy; siblings, Eugene Shortnacy, Malvie Shortnacy, Faye Jester, and David Shortnacy.

Survivors include his children, Terry Shortnacy and Brent Shortnacy both of Cedartown, Kent (Janet) Shortnacy of Gadsden, AL, Marlon (Beth) Shortnacy of Adairsville, Katrina (Kevin) Farrell of Plainville, Anthony (Andrea) Shortnacy of Shannon; grandchildren that were blessed to call him father, Krystal(Christopher) Bell , Geneva (Daniel) Smith, and Zachary (Jamie) Shortnacy, 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, J.L. (Nancy) Shortnacy of TX and Aaron (Arlina) Shortnacy of OK; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lloyd Jester, Joyce Shortnacy, Charlie Morgan and Michael (Sherrie) Morgan; special niece, Regina (Larry) Alanxander; special cousin, Bo Hunt and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in the Oothcalooga Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include his grandsons, Ethan and Mathew Farrell, Zachary, Dylan, Morgan, Walker, and Austin Shortnacy, and Nathaniel Bell. Logan Shortnacy will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
