Mr. Billy James Worthington, 68, of Adairsville, GA passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Gordon Hospital.
He was born in Cartersville, GA, February 1, 1951, son of the late J.D. Worthington and Sarah Ann Bailey Worthington. He was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and Euharlee Masonic Lodge 457. He had worked for the Adairsville Police Department, Euharlee Police Department, and the Bartow County Sheriffs Department over a span of 35 years before retiring. Every year the one thing Billy looked forward to was planting his community garden; he loved his neighbors like they were family. His giving heart and love for others will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his children, Sean Worthington, Kelcey and Ty Gulledge, and Collin Worthington; granddaughter, Kylie Morris his "Baby Girl"; brother, Steve and Becky Worthington; sister, Diane Childers; aunts, Pauline Sullins and Mary Lou Pittman; his sidekicks, Bobby Shaw and Marvin Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Hight and Rev. Gregg Free officiating. Interment will follow in Dewey Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Blake Childers, Chad Childers, Kam Willis, Travis Flemons, Donnie Mealer, Danny Mealer, and Greg Tanner. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Shaw, Marvin Tanner, Jackie Dinning, Bobby Flemons, Al Willis, and Randy Harris.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Barton Funeral Home.
