Mr. Alton F. Bagley, Jr., better known as "Buddy", of Adairsville, went to his Heavenly Home Friday, August 25, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Bagley was born in Gordon County, February 6, 1942, son of the late Alton F. Bagley, Sr. and Jackie Baxter Bagley. Buddy was a faithful servant of God. He owned and operated A and B Trucking. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army, member of the Adairsville American Legion Post 245, and member of the Adairsville Lions Club. Buddy served on the Adairsville City Council for over 14 years, including serving as Mayor Pro Tem. During his years of service, Buddy always strived to make a difference in our community, including spearheading the effort for the Veteran's Memorial Park. An advocate for Cancer Navigators, Buddy has hosted an annual motorcycle ride the last 13 years in honor of his late wife, Darlene, the proceeds have helped many cancer patients and their families through their journey. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, had an outgoing personality and always had something funny to say. The one thing everyone can say about Buddy is he was a good man and to know him was to love him. Mr. Bagley was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Darlene Cox Bagley; and sisters, Jeanette Mealer and Billie Ann Stewart.
Survivors include daughters, Lorry Brock and husband Bruce and Tilisa Massey; grandchildren, Christopher Boston (Jessica), Priscilla Wilson, and Bethany Camisassa (Andrea); great-grandchildren, Katherine Darlene Fields, Damien Mason Fields, Julian Alexander Hernandez, Rosie Marie Hernandez, and Clio Skye Camisassa; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Dr. Steven Pearson officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville with military honors. Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Jason Kellett, Christopher Boston, Brian Cox, James Pullum, and David Baxter.
The family will receive friends Monday at Barton Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Alton F. Bagley, Jr, "Buddy".
