Mr. Carl Ellis Hollaran, Jr, age 86, of Cartersville (formerly of Adairsville) passed away June 6, 2024 at Floyd Medical Center, Rome, GA.
Carl was born in Adairsville, Georgia, July 8, 1937, son of the late Carl Ellis Hollaran, Sr. and Jessie Mealor Hollaran. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Hollaran Janoulis.
Carl graduated from Adairsville High School in 1957. He loved his classmates and enjoyed reconnecting with them at their class reunions, which he never missed. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He truly enjoyed his time spent as a soldier. After returning from his military service he began his career at Union Carbide Corporation where he worked 44 years before retiring. While at Union Carbide he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Rhinehart College, Waleska, GA. Carl enjoyed his years spent at Union Carbide and made many lifetime friends there. He served on the Board of the Northwest Georgia United Credit Union for many years, even after he retired. He was an active member of Woodmen of the World Organization and was a member of Adairsville Baptist Church. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Carl loved Adairsville, GA and was always concerned about its growth and the people who lived in the community. He had many Facebook friends that he reached out to each and every morning and looked forward to the camaraderie that he shared with each and every one of them!
Survivors include his sister, Nancy Hollaran; his brother, Leamon Hollaran (Jean); and his sister, Anna Hollaran. He is also survived by 3 nieces, Jenny Janoulis Halliday (Steve); Dana Hollaran Walker (Lance); and Penny Janoulis Wade (Mitchell); a nephew, Neal Hollaran (Lori). 4 great-nieces, Meredith Walker Smith (Adam); Mallory Walker; Rya Hollaran; and Addy Hollaran. 2 great-nephews, Joshua Halliday and Miken Wade. Great-great-niece and nephew, Evie and Nathan Smith and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 12:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton with military honors. Pallbearers will be Dud Barton, Fite Casey, IV, Evan King, Neal Hollaran, Mitchell Wade and Steve Halliday.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at the Barton Funeral Home.
