Obituary

Rev. Carlton Howard Rogers, age 76, of 17 Lake Marguerite Drive, Adairsville passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at his residence.

He was born in Floyd County, Georgia, November 6, 1935, son of the late David Homer and Myrtle Johnson Rogers. Rev. Rogers was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He had been a Baptist minister for over forty-six years, preaching the Word of God to numerous congregations in Bartow, Gordon, Floyd, and Polk Counties. A master craftsman in woodworking and cabinetry, he was a gifted carpenter. Rev. Rogers was a loving father and a great friend to many. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Rogers; 4 brothers, Donald Rogers, Douglas Rogers, Aubrey Rogers, and J D Rogers ; 3 sisters, Frances Welch, Gladys Wiley, and Fannie Bell Wooten.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth Towe Rogers of Adairsville; 3 sons and daughter-in-law, Randy Rogers of Adairsville, Donnie Rogers of Covington, and Scotty and Christy Rogers of Adairsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Staci and Freddy Griffin of Adairsville; 8 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, and 2 great-granddaughters; 2 sisters, Charlotte Green of Adairsville and Mardine Brown Taylor of Rome; a brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Barbara Rogers of Rome and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 10, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Dry Creek Baptist Church, Adairsville, with Rev. Dewey Atchley, Rev. Randy Jackson, and Mr. Bob Langley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers include Bob Langley, Roy Davis, D. B. Leatherwood, Jimmy Page, Ovell Nation, Larry Towe, and George Jones.

The family will receive friends at Barton Funeral Home, Thursday evening from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
