Carolyn Lynn Ellis, 71 passed away peacefully Saturday May 18, 2019, at Waldrop Residences. She was born November 27, 1947 to Charles L. Ellis and Bernice Newton Ellis. She was the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. L. Ellis and Mr. and Mrs. William Newton. She was a graduate of West Georgia College, Florida International College and Charron William College Miami, where she obtained several degrees in English and Public Administration. She was an honor society member and maintained Dean List Status. She was employed by Trust Company Bank Atlanta, Delta Airlines, Boyle & Boyle Attorneys Miami, and retired from City of Miami Administration Department in 1995. Upon retiring she returned to her beloved "Stonehurst" home on Kingston Highway and enjoyed employment with the City of Kingston. She enjoyed sharing her home with her sister Lisa and their pets. She spent a lot of time restoring the family home and had a special ability for decorating. Carol enjoyed reading novels and watching movies and TV. She was an artist; she enjoyed painting rocks and was know for giving these as gifts. She painted many Kingston historical landmarks including her home "Stonehurst", which has been donated to the Kingston History Museum. She attended Kingston United Methodist Church. When she became a resident at Waldrop Personal Care she enjoyed activities, dressing up, and her outings. She was well-loved by the staff and residents including her roommate Mrs. Irene Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sibling Susan Gale, and sister, Lisa Newton Ellis. She is survived by her daughter, Nikki (Alan) Zurek and grandson, Elijah of Florida and several cousins. She will be deeply missed by her longtime family friend and caregiver Dawn (Peyton) silvers and "adopted" grandsons, Ryan and Matthew Silvers all of Kingston. Special caregivers and friends, Patricia Cochran, Maggie Hawkins, Misty Davis and the entire staff of Waldrop who helped Dawn care for Carol for the past three years on her journey with alzheimers. The family also thanks Amedysis Home Health and Heartland Hospice.
