Mrs. Carol Jean McCollum Whitener, age 55, of Cartersville, passed away unexpectedly May 29, 2022, at her residence.

She was born in Texas, March 21, 1967, daughter of the late Ray McCollum and Delores Jo Land McCollum. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Carol enjoyed listening to music and a good day spent shopping. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Whitener was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reverend Weldon "Donny" Odell Whitener; and brother, Carl Ray McCollum.

Survivors include her children, her pride and joy, Keisha White (Jason Poston), Kevin Whitener (Deionna), and James Murphy (Cherae); grandchildren, Andrea Poston, Andrew Poston, James Whitener, Kaitlyn Murphy, and Logan Crowe; sister, Donna Evans (Bryan); nieces, Jordan and Emma Evans; and brother-in-law, Morris Whitener (Elsa).

Funeral services will be held Fri day, June 3 , 2022 , at 2:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church, Cartersville, with Pastor Larry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, Cartersville.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church, 1511 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Cartersville, GA 30120.
