Mrs. Carrie Mae Richards Bowdoin, age 88, formerly of Adairsville, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017, at Gordon Health Care, Calhoun.
She was born in Plainville, GA, March 6, 1928, daughter of the late of Oliver Richards and Bessie Goodman Richards. She was a member of Gray's Chapel A.M.E. Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning vegetables, singing, and taking care of children. Mrs. Bowdoin was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard Bowdoin; son, Norman Bowdoin; grandson, Jian Shaw; sons-in-law, Jimmie Shaw and J.T. Watts; 4 brother and 5 sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Lucy Shaw and Robin (Eric) Williams of Adairsville, stepdaughter, Linda Watts of Calhoun; brother, Albert Richards of Detroit, MI; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10, 2017, at 1:00 PM at Gray's Chapel A.M.E. Church, Adairsville with Bishop Dion Blackwell, Rev. Leonard Daniels, Prophet Richard Harris, and Elder Susie Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Adairsville.
The family will receive friends Friday at Gray's Chapel A.M.E. Church from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour.
