Mrs. Catherine Katie Buttrum Duvall, age 87, of Fulton Road, Kingston, passed away Thursday evening, January 5, 2012 at her residence.
She was born in Rome, GA, September 14, 1924, daughter of the late George and Fannie May Carnes Buttrum. Mrs. Duvall was of the Holiness Faith and had retired from Calmor, Adairsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chella Duvall; a daughter, Clarsey Duvall Rogers; a grandson, Charles E. Duvall, Jr.; a great-grandson, J Patrick Crowe; 6 sisters and 5 brothers.
Survivors include 3 sons and daughters-in-laws, Malachi (Brenda) Duvall, Charles (Gladys) Duvall, and Dolus (Rita) Duvall all of Kingston; 10 grandchildren, Johnny Rogers, Billy Rogers, Connie Wilkey, Sarah Scoggins all of Cartersville, Amanda West, Tim Duvall, Barbara Farmer, Melissa Crowe all of Kingston, Jason Duvall of Iowa, and Jeremy Duvall of Rome; 3 step-grandchildren, Jerry Kerr of Alabama, Scotty Kerr of Rome, and Jeff Garrison of Lafayette; 20 great-grandchildren, 3stepgreat-granchilden, and a great great-grandchild; 2 brothers, James Buttrum of Calhoun and Larry (Jackie) Buttrum of Rome and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM from Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, Shannon, with Rev. C. E. Wilkey and Rev. Jackie Culberson officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens, Rome. Jeremy Duvall, Jason Duvall, Johnny Rogers, Justin Duvall, Zack Crowe, Preston Crowe, and Deron West will serve as pallbearers. William Rogers, Blake Rogers, Mason Duvall, Matt Duvall, Brandon Scoggins, Jeff Wilbanks, Franklin Trammell, and Tom Fowler will serve as honorary pallbearers. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mrs. Catherine Duvall.
