Mr. Charles Melvin Braden, age 70, of Bailey Road, Adairsville, GA, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Mr. Braden was born in Rome, Georgia, September 17, 1942, son of the late Buford Delay and Lorena Morrison Braden. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army, a member of Bethel Baptist Church, and had worked over 20 years at Mannington Carpet in Calhoun before retiring. He loved going to yard sales and spending time with his family. Mr. Braden was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Charles Clyde Morrison, Martha Miller Morrison, Robert Melvin Braden, and Ada Hood Braden; a sister, Devorah Braden Coker.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Etta Marie Braden of Adairsville; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Suzette Braden of Bethlehem, GA, Mark and Amy Braden of Rome, and Erik and Kodi Braden of Cartersville; 6 grandchildren, Jacob Braden, Matthew Braden, Nathan Braden, Hannah Braden, Mason Braden, and Kristina Braden; brother, Walter "Buddy" Delay Braden of Shannon; sister, Carol Braden Bradshaw of Silver Creek; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Calvin and Nancy Howell and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Junior Craig, Rev. Ralph Jenkins, and Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in Salmon Cemetery, Shannon with military honors. Pallbearers include Ricky Howell, Kerry Howell, Michael Cooper, Charles Thurman, Wesley Johnson, and Terry Crump.
The family will receive friends Thursday at Barton Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
