Mr. Charles Abner Ghorley, age 70, of Kingston Highway 293, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Redmond Regional Hospital.
He was born in Cartersville, GA, March 5, 1945, son of the late Abner John Ghorley and Rosie Mae Heath Ghorley. Mr. Ghorley was of the Pentecostal faith and dedicated to spreading the word of God. Always eager to talk with people, he never met a stranger. He loved being around all of his family and enjoyed playing the guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John, Ben, and Jim Ghorley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Martha Ghorley of Kingston; son, Gregory Scott Ghorley of Kingston, grandson, Justin Scott Ghorley of Temple; sisters, Betty Sue Parker of Adairsville and Sarah Frances Duvall of Kingston; uncle, Ben Ghorley of Rome; aunts, Odell McCamy of Calhoun, Mary Jo Neal of Kingston, Jessie Mae Smith of Adairsville; sister-in-law, Henrietta Moore; brothers-in-law, Johnny Forsyth and Charles Forsyth; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. C.E. Wilkey and Rev. Joseph Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery. His nephews, Robbie Bagley, Steve Ghorley, Kurt Ghorley, Mickey Harben, Danny Ghorley, and Bryan Ghorley will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Charles Abner Ghorley.
