Mr. Charles Roy Gibson, Sr., age 84, of E. Pleasant Valley Road, Adairsville passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at his residence.

He was born in Jasper, Georgia, June 12, 1935, to the late Victor Gibson and Daisy Caylor Gibson. Mr. Gibson was a veteran of the United States Marines having served during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver and retired from Cagles Farm. A gifted mechanic he liked working with old cars and John Deer tractors. He enjoyed gardening and antiques. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed. Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his parents and son, Rodney Gibson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Hoover Gibson; children, Charles Gibson, Jr. and his wife Sherry, Diane Southerland and her husband Jim, Debra Smothers and her husband Philip, and Roy Gibson; grandchildren, Charles Gibson, III and his wife Megan, Michael Gibson, Bryan Sutton and his wife Kristie, Barbie Bowden and her husband Blake, Jacob Southerland, Blake Zacharko, Emma Smothers, Adam Smothers, Aaron Smothers and his wife Taylor, Caleb Smothers, Hannah Smothers, and Trisha Gibson; great-grandchildren, Kaydee Mann, Beckham Bowden, Sydney Sutton, and Lila Sutton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Pinkard and Mr. Philip Smothers officiating. Interment will follow in Hinton Cemetery, Hinton, Georgia. Pallbearers include Charlie Gibson, Michael Gibson, Blake Zacharko, Jacob Southerland, Adam Smothers, and Blake Bowden.

The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
