Obituary
Mr. Charles "Sonny" Jones, 82, of Adairsville, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015.
Mr. Jones was born February 24, 1933 in Buckhead, Georgia, son of the late Grady and Ocilia Cash Jones. He had spent the greater part of his life in Bartow County. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Carroll Lynn Business School and also attended the University of Georgia. He was retired from General Electric Company after thirty years of service, also owned and operated Jones Tax and Accounting Service for over thirty-five years. Mr. Jones served Bartow County as an associate magistrate judge for thirty-two years and on the Adairsville-Bartow County School Board for numerous years. He was a member of Snow Springs Baptist Church for fifty-four years where he served as a deacon, church treasurer, and Sunday school superintendent. Mr. Jones was a member and past master of Adairsville Masonic Lodge #168 F&AM and received his fifty year pin in 2014. He also was a member of the Rome Yaarab Shrine Club. In addition to his parents Mr. Jones was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Chambers, Wayne Jones, and Gene Jones, grandson, Michael Moore, and a son-in-law, Mark Bodenhiemer.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Geneva W. jones to whom he was married on June 18, 1955; sons, Byron (Lisa) Jones and Keith Jones both of Adairsville; daughters, Phyllis (Terry) Davis of Calhoun and Donna Bodenhiemer of Adairsville; sisters, Barbara Harper of Centre, AL and Jacqueline Johnston of Oneida, AL; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Snow Springs Baptist Church with Rev. James Ward, Rev. Jim Martin, and Pastor Doug Mattox officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Snow Springs Baptist Church.
