Charles Randy Jackson

Mar 9, 1953 — Oct 8, 2026

Charles Randy Jackson passed away suddenly on October 8, 2026 leaving an empty void in the many people who loved him.

Randy was born on March 9, 1953 to the late Ruby Jewel Green Jackson and late James Donald “Charlie” Jackson. He grew up in the Adairsville area and took great pride in his farm up bringing. He always said his granddaddy showed him how to work. He could do most anything in his younger years. He instilled that same work ethic in Rhett and Emmett.

He asked Valerie to marry him two weeks after they started dating to which she replied “I don’t know you.” He said “well I know.” He kept asking and finally he said ok you let me know when you are ready. Randy and Valerie married on August 11, 1973 and have been married for 53 years. It took them a while but after 17 years they welcomed Rhett into their family and were blessed beyond measure. Rhett married Mayla Hall and then Randy’s love really showed. He had a daughter too. When he didn’t think he could love more, Emmett was born and Emmett was his world! Randy did not limit his love to his immediate family. He loved his and Valerie’s whole family this way. It didn’t matter where you landed on a line of a family tree. To Randy you were family and he loved you.

Randy was hard working and worked many jobs throughout his career. He served his community for 48 years working with the City of Calhoun Police Department. Starting as a radio operator to patrolman to sergeant detective to assistant chief. He retired as the Marshall in the Municipal Court in 2023. Alongside his career he farmed and raised cattle since 1976.

To know Randy was to love him. He never met a stranger that before he left them he had told them their whole family tree. He knew and loved everyone . He had a knack for talking to anyone and then remembering everything that was said and could tell it forever. Randy loved his family like no other. You knew immediately the depth of his love.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Walraven Jackson. His son, Rhett (Mayla) Jackson and grandson, Emmett Jackson. His sister, Wanda (Tim) Baird. Mother-in-law, Kayanne Walraven. Brothers-in-law George (Ginger) Walraven and Grant (Julie) Walraven. Nieces and nephews - Christy Gaddis, Drew (Kristin) Walraven, Bart (Meagan) Walraven, Macy (Chris) Gubitoso, Lex (Marlee) Walraven. Numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews also survive.
