Mr. Lawrence Daniel "Danny" Abernathy, age 74, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Cartersville Medical Center.

He was born in Cartersville, GA, February 17, 1947, son of the late Lawrence Abernathy and Inez King Abernathy. Mr. Abernathy was a member of Crowe Springs Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Jill Abernathy McCrory.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Abernathy; daughter, Jeanna Abernathy; stepson, Brian (Tara) Nix; grandchildren, Adrienne McFarland, William (Hannah) McCrory, Casey (Allison) McCrory, Sydney Edwards, Ben Edwards and Audrey (Jacob) Lidh; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanell Dinning, Patty Babb Judy (Jerry) Jones, and Brenda Giordano; very special cousins, Arlice (Terry) DeFoor, Nancy (Fred) Budzius, and Ann (Sean) McDermott; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Reverends Randy Jackson and Butch Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Stoner Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Will McCrory, Casey McCrory, Ben Edwards, Jesse White, Michael Tidwell, and Grady Haney.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
