Mr. David Leon Pitts, age 68, of 5209 Calhoun Road, Adairsville, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Floyd Medical Center, Rome.

He was born in Floyd County, GA, February 5, 1943, son of the late Leon Thomas and Mary Lou Lee Pitts. Mr. Pitts retired from Georgia Power, was a member of Shannon Masonic Lodge #100 F & AM. He enjoyed fishing, farming, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elaine Pitts.

Survivors include a daughter, Tracy Pitts Weaver of Adairsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lisa Pitts of Adairsville; 3 grandchildren, Lauren, Austin, and Seth Weaver; a brother, Rickey Gene (Teresa) Pitts of Townsville, SC; a sister, Linda (Kenneth) Nelson of Adairsville, a brother-in-law, Joel Lancaster of Adairsville and a sister-in-law, Carol Taylor of Fairmount; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 3:00 PM from Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville, with Rev. Dan Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Ayers, Michael Nelson, Jeff Nelson, David McClure, Steve Camp, and Randy Tillery. Austin and Seth Weaver will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
