IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane
Mcduffie
January 31, 1942 – June 22, 2023
Alice Diane McDuffie, "Diane" age 81, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday evening, June 22, 2023, at her daughter Abby's home in Adairsville, surrounded by family.
She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 31, 1942, daughter of the late Dorothy Hicks and Walter McDuffie. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Alice Parr, Lorrie Parr Angell and Noelle Parr Nation and her sister Norma Jean Hester (Emory Hester II), as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Diane loved her daughters and grandchildren more than anything. She really enjoyed family get-togethers, especially holidays and birthdays. She loved cooking and preparing for the holidays, especially Thanksgiving. Fall was her favorite season. She loved going out to eat, to new places as well as her long-standing favorite places. She loved gathering with family and reminiscing about the past and sharing memories. Yellow was Diane's favorite color.
She was the epitome of a southern lady, with impeccable manners yet she was very easy to talk to and get to know. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She was very generous and compassionate. She was strong willed and loved sarcasm at the appropriate moments. She enjoyed watching movies, reality TV shows and especially liked Fox News where she kept up with current events daily and sometimes hourly. She liked eating cake for breakfast sometimes, with a good cup of coffee. She favored staying in at home versus going out, but she did enjoy getting out at times and seeing new places and things as well as those that were familiar.
She enjoyed traveling over the years, and had been to Europe twice, one trip having been to England to meet relatives. She had also been to San Francisco, California, and Colorado more than once where she enjoyed snow skiing with family. She had also traveled to the Bahamas (multiple islands in one trip), New York, Maine, New Orleans (Louisiana), Savannah (Georgia), Las Vegas (Nevada), and a few other states. She had enjoyed spending many summers at the beach (Panama City, Florida) with family.
The majority of her career was in the legal field, as a case manager for Tom Cook at The Cook Law Firm in Atlanta. She worked for the firm for over 20 years and was much loved and appreciated by Tom and her work family. Much earlier in her career, she worked as a legal secretary for the Chief Council and Vice President of Coca-Cola in Atlanta.
She is survived by her daughter, Abby Parr, her grandchildren, Paige Kerr, Ross Kerr, Bella Angell, Presley Nation, Grace Nation, Natalie Nation, Max Nation, step-grandchildren Brittany Angell, Amanda Angell Gardner (Nick) and Austin Garlinghouse, step-great grandson Theo Gardner, son-in-law Steve Angell, nieces Julie Tucker (Larry), Vickie Frederiksen (Ed), June Hayes (Butch), nephew Emory Hester III, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Diane's life will be held on Saturday, July 1st at 2:00 pm, with visitation from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm from the chapel of R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville.
