Mr. Dillard Lee Sutton, age 90, of Mount Pleasant Road, Fairmount, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017.
He was born in the Folsom Community in Adairsville, GA on May 23, 1927, son of the late John Sherman Sutton and Mabel Mealer Sutton. Mr. Sutton was veteran of United States Navy and a member of Hinton Baptist Church. Over the years he was a church deacon, church clerk, and the song director. He and his siblings sang gospel music for many years. He loved singing and listening to gospel music. This music was a source of peace and calm for him in later years.
Mr. Sutton was a lifelong poultry and cattle farmer. He will always be remembered by family and friends as a fun loving man, who loved to play pranks on others. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jones Sutton; brothers, Homer, Hobert, and Rayford Sutton; and sister, Jeanette Kelley.
Survivors include his children, Donna (B.R.) Roberts of Cartersville and Dennis (Tina) Sutton of Fairmount; granddaughter, Kristen (Chris) Williams; great-granddaughter, Kensington Williams; brother, Ellis Sutton and sister, Glenda Long; several nieces and nephews and special caretakers, Lisa Stratton and Amanda Hendricks.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Gene Childers and Rev. Rhyne Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Jones, Dwight Kelley, Lamar Garland, Les Sutton, George Long, Lamar Johnson, and Don Thurman.
The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Dillard Sutton.
