Mr. Donald Eugene "Gene" Spinks, age 61, of Biddy Road, Adairsville, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at his residence.

He was born in Marietta, GA, October 28, 1954, son of the late Nathan James Spinks and Gertrude Viola Vance Spinks. Mr. Spinks was a charter member of Salacoa Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired paramedic as well as a commercial construction superintendent. To say he was passionate about his work would be an understatement; even after retirement he was always eager to help people in need. Gene adored his family, was a devoted husband and amazing father. His daughters would tell you he was the best man they knew, that he will live on in their hearts and he will walk them down the aisle on their wedding day in spirit.

Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Julie Spinks of Adairsville; children, Ashley Elizabeth Spinks of Adairsville, Elizabeth Gabrielle Spinks of Adairsville, Amy (Adam) Kennedy of IN, Charles Robinson Spinks and Christina Marie Spinks; grandchildren, Logan and Aiden Kennedy; brother, Richard (Suzanne) Spinks of Acworth; sister, Rachel Ray of NC and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Pastor Sammy Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers will be Justin Hodge, Jonathon Price, and Taylor Hilton.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at the Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
