Donald Fred Worley, age 84, of Brownlee Mountain Road passed away March 8 th , 2021 after several months of declining health. He had put his faith and trust in his heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. He had longed for his heavenly home for some time. John 5:24 " Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. "
He was born December 22, 1936, in Gordon County, son of the late John Pleasant Worley and Annie Samples Worley. Donald was the youngest of twelve children. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He had retired from Galey and Lord after 40 years of employment and also worked at Worley Door Shop for 20 years. He loved spending time outdoors on the family farm that he purchased from his father in the late 50's. Donald also loved giving out peppermint candy at church and enjoyed reminiscing about days gone by.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Joan Scott Worley; siblings, Willie Mae Lemons, Clara Bell Cochran, Dorsey Worley, Avanelle Hamilton, Mary Camp, Edna Hardy, Roy Worley, Opal Simmons, Barbara King, Winnie Keith, and Geneva Worley; and grandson, Thomas Smith.
Donald is survived by four daughters, Joan and D.C. Kinman, Jean and Steve Williams, Jan and William Smith, and Judy and David Craig; one son, John Worley; grandchildren, Dana Kinman, Elizabeth Varner (Sam), Cristina Kinman, Stephanie Walters (Daniel), Jennifer Branum (Matt), Travis Smith, Taylor Smith (Ashley), Timothy Smith (Brandi), Tabitha Craig, Kacie Wilbanks (Vince), and Matthew Craig; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM from Salem Baptist Church with Ministers Drew Elrod and Gary Bowman officiating. Mr. Paul Sneed will be in charge of music. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Rome. Donald's grandsons will serve as pallbearers and nephews will server as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made in Donald's memory to the Gideon Bibles.
