Mrs. Doris Louise Smith Freeman, age 80, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the residence.
She was born in Cartersville, GA, July 27, 1935, daughter of the late Tillis and Stella Richardson Bishop. Mrs. Freeman was a member of West End Baptist Church, Rome and Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 5376 Calhoun. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband and father of her children, John B. "Junior" Smith; son, Terry Eugene Smith
Survivors include her husband, Clayton E. Freeman of Rome; son Barry (Lavada) Smith; daughters, Theresa (David) Honeycutt and Lisa (David) Horvath; grandchildren, Jessica (Tasha) Cline, Madison Edwards, Mackenzie Edwards, and Masen Barnett; great-grandson, Phoenix Edwards; great-granddaughter, Kinlee Cline; brothers, Bobby (Carol) Bishop and Wayne (Robin) Bishop; sister, Linda (Thomas) Vangi; stepchildren, Rhonda (Jamie) Cundiff, Donna McCollum, and Cheryl (Tim) Hubbard; step-grandchildren, Charlie (Jessica) Money, Clay (Sarah) McCollum, Lacey (Matt) King, Brandon (Rachel) Craig, and Kendall Money; 9 step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Mike Phillips and Mr. John Gwizdak officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Cartersville. Pallbearers will include Clay McCollum, Brandon Craig, Charlie Money, Matt King, Jamie Cundiff, and Tim Hubbard.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
