Mrs. Dorothy Gunn Herod, age 89, formerly of Adairsville, passed away Sunday morning, March 27, 2016 at Townsend Park, Cartersville.

She was born in Adairsville, Georgia, August 22, 1926, daughter of the late Fred Gunn Sr. and Rosa Newton Gunn. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Cassville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clayton M. Herod; son, Stevan Herod; and brother, Clyde Gunn.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Amie and Wade Wilson of Pine Log, Shayne and Beth Herod of Cartersville; daughter-in-law, Freda Herod Woodring and husband, Larry of Adairsville; brothers, Charles and Shirley Gunn and Fred and Annis Gunn, Jr.; great-grandsons, William Stevan Wilson, Blakely Knox Herod, Samuel Shayne Herod, and Benjamin Wade Wilson; special cousin, JoAnne McClure and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville. Pallbearers will be Shayne Herod, Blakely Herod, Wade Wilson, and Larry Woodring.
