Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Lockridge, age 75, of Barnsley Gardens Road, Adairsville, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016.
Mrs. Lockridge was born in Adairsville, Georgia September 1, 1940, daughter of the late Emmett Raymond McDonald and Faire Herod McDonald. Mrs. Lockridge attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She cherished all her family and truly was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A wonderful cook, you could always find her in the kitchen mixing up something. She also enjoyed sewing and working outside in her garden and yard. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James "Jimmy" Lockridge, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Carole Lockridge; brother, Buddy McDonald; brother-in-law, Fred Lochridge.
Survivors include her sons, James Lockridge, Jr of Adairsville and Danny Lockridge of Kingston; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Bo Johnson of Adairsville; grandchildren, Donna and Mike Johnston of Adairsville and Josh and Kayla Lockridge of Adairsville; 4 great- grandchildren, Donavan, Ashleigh, Wyatt, and Dale; sister, Jeanette Lochridge of Cartersville; brother, C.L. and Bernice McDonald of Calhoun; sister-in-law, Kathren Chastain of Ludville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Buchanan, Rev. Leon Smith, and Rev. Richard Prince officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 2:00PM until 3:00 PM. Pallbearers include Caney McStotts, Ricky Coplin, Tony McDonald, Randy Kimsey, Kenny Gravitt, and Bruce Potts.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
