Douglas Henry Ghorley known to everyone as "Doug" peacefully departed this life Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center with his loving wife by his side.

Doug was born in Bartow County, GA, July 8, 1962, son of Mary Forsyth Ghorley and the late John Ghorley. Doug was the street and road supervisor for the City of Adairsville before retiring. He was known and liked by many. Doug enjoyed carpentry, mechanic work, racing and gardening. He was a quiet humble man, but if Doug knew you well, he was quite the cut up. He was a loyal friend and husband, if you needed Doug, you could count on him to be there.

He leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Lynn Pratt Ghorley; stepsons, Justin and Christopher Parker; mother, Mary Ghorley; brothers, Danny Ghorley (Mary), Paul Ghorley, Bryan Ghorley (Cindy); mother-in-law, Mary Pratt; special friends, Larry Pratt, Kenneth Randolph, Michael Fowler, and everyone with All in Racing; several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Les McClure, Shane Ferguson, Brenton Garmon, Brian Cooper, Travis Amos, and Troy Smith will serve as pallbearers. Christopher Parker will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
