Obituary

Mr. Douglas Blanton Evans, age 97, of Pine Grove Circle, Adairsville, passed away Tuesday morning, January 17, 2018, at his residence.

He was born in Nashville, TN, June 5, 1920, son of the late Stanley Blanton Evans and Sidney Patrick Evans. Mr. Evans was a member of Adairsville Baptist Church. A veteran of the United States Navy he served as a chief petty officer, managing the commissary, on both the USS Livermore and the USS Burrows in the North Atlantic Convoy during WWII. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, George Darling Evans.

Survivors include his children, David (Rita) Evans of Summerville and Sarah (Margaret) Evans of Tunnel Hill; grandchildren, Xena Mills, Dustin Kown, Zachary Lively, Angie White; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Adairsville Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Sorrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church.

R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Douglas Blanton Evans.
