Obituary

Mr. Douglas Billy Fowler, age 76, of Adairsville, passed away peacefully Friday evening, May 22, 2020, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Canton, GA, December 24, 1943 to the late Ladis Wes Fowler and Mattie Lee Cline Fowler. Mr. Fowler was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for 50 years. He was the vocational construction teacher at Cass High School for 27 years before retiring. He was the Host of the Peach Meet Club for 10 years and past direct and current member of the Midwest Tool Club Area M. A true antique small hand tool collector, he traveled many places finding pieces to add to his collection. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, teacher, and friend who will be missed by many. Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Watkins; brother, J.C. Fowler; and brother-in-law, Jerry King.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Geraldine King Fowler; sister, Bobbie and Charles Anderson of Canton; brother, Glenn and Mary Fowler of Gray; sisters-in-law, Betty and Waymon Dutton of Plainville, and Jo Anne Burnette of Plainville; nieces and nephews, Robert Watkins, William Anderson, Connie Hatcher, Tammy White, Kristy Bramblet, Sammy Brown, Steve King, Carla Boelhouwer, Pam Fowler, Kris Reese, Gina Tuttle, Amanda Easterwood, and Patty Turner; and several special great nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held Monday, May 25, 2020, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Campbell,  Rev. Roger Fisher, and Rev. Jackie Clayton officiating. Graveside services will follow in Franklin Cemetery. Following social distancing guidelines the family will receive family and friends Monday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be  Grant Hollingsworth, Sammy Brown, Leroy Taylor, Zackary Grantham, Barry Tuttle, and Frank Moorehead.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Heyman Hospice for all their care and support given, especially Sharon Seabolt, Alicia Hendricks, Bob Lee, Shannon Watley, Kenosha Staples, Kelly Boroski, and Sandra Wendt. .
