Mr. Douglas McArthur Harris, age 81, of Adairsville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Doug was born in Adairsville, GA, September 28, 1944, son of the late William T. Harris, (Pee-Wee) and Eula Irene Bunch Harris. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Harris Jr., Alfred J. (Jack) Harris, and Johnny Harris.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Harris; daughters, Patricia Casey (Brent), Barbara Abercrombie (Jason), and Lori Howell (Ricky); grandchildren, Alicia McGlamery (Steve), Ashlen Casey, Katelyn Abernathy (Tripp), Megan Hooper (Mitchell), Kyle Howell, Maci Howell; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Nettie Denova (Paul), brothers-in-law, Charles Phillips and James Stone; sister-in-law, Sue Harris and several nieces and nephews.

Doug was a devoted member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and a retiree of Galey and Lord, where he dedicated 36 years of service. He was a loving husband who married the love of his life, and together they were blessed with three beautiful daughters, six beloved grandchildren and ten cherished great-grandchildren.

Doug found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed fishing and camping and had a true passion for gardening. Always tinkering in his garage, Doug had a creative spirit and a knack for invention — from handmade bird feeders to lawnmower sun shields — you never knew what wonderful creation he would come up with next.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, pawpaw, and great-peepaw, whose kindness, humor, and gentle heart touched all who knew him. His legacy of love and creativity will live on through his family and the many lives he impacted.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Adairsville with Reverends Bryan Cox and Michael Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Adairsville. Pallbearers include Brent Casey, Jason Abercrombie, Ricky Howell, Kyle Howell, Steven Cole, and Alfred Harris.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
