Obituary

Mr. Earl L. Towe of Adairsville, Georgia, passed from this life to his eternal life in Heaven. After several months of declining health, Earl died peacefully at his residence with loving family at his side.

Born May 22, 1929, on Towe Chaple Road in Folsom, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Gladys Adcock Towe, his parents, AC Towe and Selma Striplin Towe, and his sister, Barbara Towe Womack.

He is survived by his children, Earlene and Gary Dutton and Alan and LaCreshia Towe of Adairsville; grandchildren, DeAndra (Marty) Baker, Gareth (Becki) Dutton, Lauren (Phillip) Thompson, Lindsey (Clint) Woodall, and Olivia Towe; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Mary El (Earl) Dutton and special friend, Ruby Baggett also survive.

Earl served in the United States Army during WWII in the signal corps. He was a deacon at Cedar Creek Baptist Church for almost 60 years and Sunday School Superintendent for 24 years. He was a member of Adairsville Masonic Lodge #168 for over 65 years and a charter member of American Legion Post where served as chaplain.

Earl believed the City of Adairsville was the greatest place to live and worked hard for its advancements during his 15 years of service which included 4 years as councilmen and 11 years as mayor.

Earl will always be remembered as a gentle man who loved his GOD, his family, and his country.

Honoring the former mayor the funeral processional will pause briefly in front of Adairsville City Hall Tuesday at 10:30am.

Following Covid-19 guidelines with social distancing, funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Hibberts, Rev. Gregg Free,  and Rev. Eric Sorrell officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. For anyone attending the service mask are highly recommended. The family ask friends to please join the family at Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville for the interment.

Pallbearers will be Terry Edwards, Rocky Dutton, Lewis Cobb, Mike Ralston, Joe Doyle Lanham, Jr, and Hamp Alexander, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
