Obituary

Mrs. Edna Mae Barton, age 77, of Blue Ridge, formerly of Kennesaw passed away on April 28, 2019, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born in Cartersville, GA on September 9, 1941, daughter of the late Lem Lowe and Evelyn Mitchell Abernathy. She was of the baptist faith and a member of Bush Arbor Baptist Church. In her younger years Edna was very active in the community and her children's activities, from coaching softball to being the troop leader for the Girl Scouts, she loved it all. As her family grew with grandchildren and great grandchildren her favorite times were spent at birthday parties, family reunions, and the holidays. She loved to go trout fishing and enjoyed browsing a good yard sale or thrift store. She was preceded in death by her father, Lem Lowe; mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Homer Abernathy; husband, Paul F. Barton; and brothers, Homer Abernathy and Robert Abernathy.

Survivors include her children, Dan Wooten, Jimmy (Kristi) Barton, Annette (Wayne) Conn and special daughter and care taker, Elizabeth "Beth" Monica; grandchildren, Joseph Monica, Sgt. Paul (Zion) Monica, Dora Monica, Sgt. Jacob (Christin) Monica, Nicholas (Brianna) Monica, Dustin McEarchern, Tyler Conn, and Gaby Barton; great grandchildren, Oliver Monica, Solomon and Lydia Monica, Sophia and Natalie Monica, Ava and Eli Monica, Talon, Hazel, and Willow McEarchern; sisters, Joyce (Charles) Dobbs, and Shirley Dobbs and Doyle Abernathy, and Mary (Jerry) Pendleton; several nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Brother Gene Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. Mrs. Barton's family will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.

The family wishes to thank all of the Georgia State Patrol, paramedics, and local law enforcement for their care and concern shown during this time.
