Mrs. Edna Kate Sutton, affectionately known as "Mama Kate", age 87, of 276 Old Highway 140, Adairsville, passed away Saturday morning, September 1, 2012, at the residence.
Mrs. Sutton was born in Gordon County, July 28, 1925, daughter of the late Walter and Maude Jackson Colston. She was a member of the Adairsville Church of Christ.
Mrs. Sutton had been a foster parent, caring for nearly fifty children over her lifetime and enjoyed singing, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nuil F. "Jute" Sutton; six brothers, Troy, Grady, Coley, Randolph "Doc", Willie "Bill", and Derward "Mutt" Colston, and two sisters, Thelma Payne and Mary Frances Darby.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Patsy Sutton of Adairsville; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Kay Ann and Jerry Boswell, and Melissa and Jason Garner, both of Adairsville; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Woodring of Adairsville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 2, 2012, at 4:00 PM at the Adairsville Church of Christ with Min. Steve McCaslin and Min. Calvin Reneau officiating. A private interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the church.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Pakston Boswell, Chad Sutton, Corey Sutton, and Tyler Boswell.
