Mr. Edward Lelton Blalock, age 87, of Rydal, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, with his loved ones by his side.

Lelton was born in Rydal, Georgia, July 20, 1936, son of the late Ottis Blalock and Isabelle Edwards Blalock. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dean Edward Blalock; grandson, John David Blalock; daughter-in-law, Melinda Blalock; and brother, Frasier Blalock. Mr. Blalock was of the Baptist Faith and loved singing gospel music. He retired from the Floyd County Board of Education where he worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed tinkering with tools and anything with a motor, there wasn't much he couldn't fix. He loved his family, especially all of his grandchildren. Lelton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Frances Scoggins Blalock; sons, Dwight and LaVerne Blalock and Alvin Blalock; daughter, Lawanda and Phil Bearden; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Blalock grandchildren, Brandy Blalock, David Blalock (Becca), Darrell Blalock (Alicia), Joey Blalock (Summer), Alvin Blalock, Jr., Scott Blalock; LeAnna Magana (Mario) and Ryan Bearden; great-grandchildren, Addison Blalock, Ashley Blalock, Amanda Harris (Austin), Nick Blalock (Alyssa), Hayden Blalock, Keely Blalock, Kaden Blalock, Aria Magana, Brantly Bearden, Waylon Bearden and several great-great grandchildren; brother, Gary Blalock (Debbie); sister, Gail Tilly (Jim)and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Blalock Family Cemetery. Pallbearers include David Blalock, Darrell Blalock, Joey Blalock, Ryan Bearden, Nick Blalock, Stevie Bramblett and Michael Bramblett.

The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
