Mrs. Elizabeth Modean Baldwin Slayton, age 90, of 801 Woody Road, Adairsville, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Kindred Hospital, Chattanooga.
Mrs. Slayton was born in Pleasant Grove, GA, October 25, 1920, daughter of the late Clarence Avery and Fannie Elizabeth Green Baldwin. She was a member of the Adairsville Church of Christ for over forty years and in her earlier career had been employed at Fulton National Bank and the Federal Reserve Bank. Mrs. Slayton was a selfless individual, always putting others interests and needs before her own. She loved spending time at home caring for her family and spending time gardening. Mrs. Slayton was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Slayton, and a sister, Mildred Caldwell.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, who was also her caregiver, James Randall and Mari Jo Slayton of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Stephenson-Hiraga and Steve Hiraga of Germantown, MD; 3 grandsons, Matt Slayton and Mitch Slayton of Rome, and Brian Stephenson of Germantown, MD; a great-grandson, Sean Stephenson; a brother-in-law, Sam Caldwell of Marietta; a sister-in-law, Marie Hargrove of Ardmore, TN; and a nephew, Kerry Caldwell.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, April 3, 2011, at 4:00 PM from Adairsville Church of Christ with Minister Calvin Reneau officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the Adairsville Church of Christ fellowship hall from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour.
