Mrs. Ellen Akin Towe, age 83, of Woody Road, Adairsville, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at Townsend Park Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Towe was born in Talking Rock, Georgia, June 7, 1932, daughter the late Robert L. Akin and Bennie Herndon Akin. She was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. Mrs. Towe cherished her family and time spent together. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and conversing on the telephone. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Olin W. Towe; daughters, Pamela Towe and Patrice Young; brothers, Bobby and Billy Akin.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Bonnie Towe of Adairsville; daughter, Lisa Whiteside of Smyrna; son-in-law, Archie Young of Chatsworth; grandchildren, Brian Towe, Tiffanie and Brian Nelson, Dwight and Terri Young; and Sabrina and Raymond Holt; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Louise Hall and Barbara Towe; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Gary Hibberts and Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville.
